Balance for Sport (Lacrosse)
This video is about Balance for sport. Life and sports occur in multiple planes of movement. They can be used in physical therapy or rehab exercises for the knee, hip and ankle. Enhancement of sports performance is another side effect of working on balance in all planes of movement. We have used this progression of balance exercises after knee surgery to help prevent future injury.
Besides post-operative knee surgery depending upon your sport it can be beneficial for post-op hip and ankle surgery, or any lower extremity injury. The results are improved balance, increased strength, and can minimize your chances of injury. You will gain an improved sense of strength at the ankle and better awareness of your body in space also known as proprioception.
Choose a sport that fits your athlete. You can substitute a lacrosse stick and ball with a hockey stick and puck, basketball, baseball, etc. Our physical therapists find them to be fun and challenging for each patient or client.
We are a physical therapy clinic in MetroWest of Boston. Our Physical therapists specialize in sports, orthopedics and pediatrics with a goal of returning to sport for all athletes especially youth sports. Consult your local physical therapist to determine if these exercises are appropriate.
