Manual therapy is a type of treatment used by physical therapists. We perform many manual techniques using our hands and instruments. These techniques include soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilizations, kinesiotaping, trigger point, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, manual traction, distraction, belt mobilizations, and massage, to name a few. The goal of these techniques is to promote relaxation of muscles, increase joint mobility, improve soft tissue, muscle extensibility, break up scar tissue, increase circulation, promote healing, and decrease pain.
